Position Job Title: Compliance Manager

Location: Niagara Falls, ON (Hybrid)

Reports To: Executive Director, Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

Primary Purpose

The Compliance Manager at UNF ensures ethical conduct and compliance with various provincial and federal rules, regulations and standard processes that govern educational services. The role includes working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance, as well as involvement in policy and procedure development.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Generate reports and complete Compliance related reporting.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Compliance management activities and programs.
  • Formulate, update, and implement comprehensive Privacy and Data Protection policies and procedures in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential privacy risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Complete Institutional due diligence of educational agents and partners, as well as overseeing ongoing monitoring of agent performance.
  • Implement compliance procedures in coordination with the management of UNF to ensure all departments and programs are operating in compliance with government regulations and external accrediting bodies.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; work to develop action plans for the mitigation of those risks and provide guidance on how to avoid instances of non-compliance.
  • Identify and report non-compliance instances to management and work with staff to correct the issue(s).
  • Monitor and implement quality assurance standards and procedures and evaluate their adequacy.
  • Implement and maintain operating policies and procedures, communicating information via emails or in-person about our policies, procedures and processes and their implications.
  • Providing regular compliance reports to senior management.



Position Requirements

To be successful in the Compliance Manager position, the individual must possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a relevant field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a compliance role, with knowledge of regulatory and legislative policy and procedures.
  • Highly ethical nature
  • Able to confidentiality handle sensitive information
  • A flexible approach to working and the ability to cope with frequently changing environments.
  • The ability to work independently but also as part of a wider management team
  • A proactive and innovative thinker demonstrating good attention to detail
  • Ability to liaise with key stakeholders
